We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Account Officer Location: Lagos, Nigeria Job type: Full-time Role Summary The Account Officer supports the Finance function by maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounting transactions, assisting with financial reporting, payroll, reconciliations, audits, statutory compliance, and bookkeeping. The role contributes to sound financial management, effective internal controls, regulatory compliance, and timely financial information for decision-making. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll records. Process and verify invoices, payment vouchers, expense claims, quotations, and supporting documentation. Perform daily bookkeeping and ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and promptly. Prepare monthly bank, ledger, supplier, customer, and other account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP). Support statutory compliance by assisting with tax computations, filings, and other regulatory reporting requirements. Coordinate and support internal and external audit activities by preparing schedules and responding to audit queries. Monitor accounts payable and receivable to support effective cash flow management. Follow up on outstanding receivables and assist in debt collection activities. Assist the Head of Finance in preparing budgets, financial analyses, and management reports. Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency through financial analysis. Support the implementation and monitoring of internal controls to safeguard company assets and minimize financial risks. Maintain proper filing and documentation of financial records in both physical and electronic formats. Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity of all financial information. Perform any other finance or administrative duties assigned by the Head of Finance. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's Degree (BSc) / HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Must have 3-5 years' relevant experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or finance role. Part-qualification or active progress toward a recognized professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, CIMA, or CPA) is an advantage; full qualification is a strong plus. Sound working knowledge of accounting principles and standards (IFRS/GAAP) and statutory/tax compliance requirements. Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP systems) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Prior experience supporting payroll processing, reconciliations, and audit preparation is desirable. Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high accuracy under deadline pressure. Demonstrated integrity and ability to handle confidential financial information responsibly.
