The overall purpose of this role is to operate, monitor, coordinate, and optimize UHT processingoperations to ensure smooth production processes, minimize downtime, maintain product quality, and achieve daily production targets in line with company procedures and food safety requirements. Location: Kisii Reports to: Technical Supervisor - UHT Direct Reports: UHT Machine Operator Department: Production Unit: UHT Current Grade: Work Station: Kisii Factory Key duties and responsibilities a) Prepare and submit daily production reports covering manpower utilization, milk production volumes, raw materials consumption, and machine performance. b) Ensure adequate availability of raw materials and packaging materials required for uninterrupted production. c) Monitor and ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by UHT operators and other production staff. d) Monitor equipment performance and coordinate preventive maintenance activities to minimize machine downtime. e) Implement Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedules in coordination with Engineering. f) Conduct machine adjustments and modifications where necessary to improve efficiency and accommodate varying production requirements. g) Raise timely requisitions for machine spare parts and maintenance requirements. h) Supervise packaging operations and contracted staff to minimize product losses and damages. i) Ensure compliance with food safety standards and quality requirements within the production process. j) Monitor and verify applicable Critical Control Points (CCPs), Operational Prerequisite Programme (OPRPs), and Prerequisite Programme (PRPs). k) Ensure machines are operated and serviced according to manufacturer specifications. l) Monitor machine performance and promptly troubleshoot operational issues. m) Ensure proper housekeeping and adherence to health and safety standards within the production area. n) Any other duties assigned by the supervisor from time to time. Working relationships Internal Relationships: Warehouse, Stores, Engineering, QA, EHS, HR External Relationships: None Knowledge, experience and qualifications required Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation Engineering, or related technical field Previous experience operating UHT/Tetra Pak systems is an added advantage Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in manufacturing or dairy processing Competencies Technical & Behavioural competencies Analytical skills Good technical background on dairy processing equipment Planning and good organization skills Work scheduling knowledge Team management Time management Ability to resolve conflicts Responsibility for finances and physical assets The job holder has no responsibility for equipment, finances or stock except for the work tools assigned Decision-making The jobholder’s decision-making authority is within existing guidelines and includes providing recommendations to facilitate final decisions Information The jobholder has access to confidential information.
