This new facility aims to support the AHRI which is a premier research institution in Ethiopia with a mandate to conduct scientific research about diseases of public health importance, train the next generation of scientists, and contribute to global health security. The Armauer Hansen Research Institute has long been at the forefront of infectious disease research in Ethiopia, playing a critical role in the fight against leprosy and tuberculosis through scientific research, training, and collaboration. The planned laboratory facility in Addis Ababa will enhance AHRI’s ability to conduct innovative research in a modern environment equipped with the latest technology and infrastructure, further positioning Ethiopia as a leading center for infectious disease research in Africa. “UNOPS is honored to contribute to Ethiopia’s public health advancements by delivering this important laboratory facility,” said Ms. Worknesh Mekonnen, Director of the Ethiopia Multi-Country Office of UNOPS and Representative to the African Union. “We are committed to ensuring that this project will not only advance research but will also provide a sustainable and resilient infrastructure that will benefit Ethiopians for generations to come.” Meron Aberra UN entities involved in this initiative Goals we are supporting through this initiative
