Cashier
Job Description
The Cashier is responsible for receiving, processing, recording, and safeguarding cash and other forms of payment while ensuring accurate financial transactions and excellent customer service. The role involves handling daily cash collections, issuing receipts, maintaining accurate cash records, reconciling cash balances, and ensuring compliance with the company's financial policies and internal control procedures. Key Responsibilities - Receive and process cash, cheques, electronic payments, and other forms of payment accurately. - Issue receipts, invoices, and payment confirmations to customers. - Maintain accurate records of all cash transactions and daily collections. - Balance cash drawers and reconcile cash transactions at the end of each business day. - Prepare daily cash reports and submit supporting documentation to the finance department. - Ensure proper custody and security of cash and other financial documents. - Verify payment amounts and resolve discrepancies promptly. - Provide courteous and professional customer service while handling customer inquiries. - Maintain confidentiality of financial information and customer records. - Ensure compliance with company financial policies, internal controls, and cash handling procedures. - Assist with bank deposits and other finance-related activities when required. - Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Experience - Previous experience as a Cashier, Finance Assistant, or in a similar cash handling role is an advantage. - Fresh graduates who meet the educational requirements may also be encouraged to apply, if applicable. Required Competencies - Strong numerical and analytical skills. - Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. - Knowledge of cash handling procedures and basic accounting principles. - Good customer service and interpersonal skills. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. - Ability to operate computerized cashier or point-of-sale (POS) systems. - Strong organizational and time management skills. - High level of integrity, honesty, and accountability. - Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy.
