Branch Accountant

Job Description

The Branch Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing financial transactions, preparing reports, and supporting the overall financial operations of the branch. The role ensures compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and financial procedures while contributing to efficient branch operations. Key Responsibilities - Maintain accurate accounting records and financial transactions. - Prepare financial reports, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. - Process payments, receipts, and other financial transactions in accordance with institutional policies and procedures. - Ensure compliance with financial procedures, accounting standards, and internal control requirements. - Support daily branch financial operations and maintain proper financial documentation. - Verify the accuracy and completeness of financial records before posting transactions. - Assist in cash management, bank reconciliations, and month-end closing activities. - Maintain proper filing and safekeeping of accounting documents and financial records. - Support internal and external audit activities by providing the required financial information and documentation. - Identify and report financial discrepancies and recommend appropriate corrective actions. - Ensure timely preparation and submission of financial reports. - Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Accounting & Finance, or a related field. - College Diploma (Level IV/10+3) in Accounting or a related field. Experience - Bachelor’s Degree holders: No work experience required. - Diploma holders: Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience. - Experience in a Microfinance Institution (MFI) is an added advantage. Required Skills - Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting. - Knowledge of bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial record management. - Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office. - Experience with accounting software is an added advantage. - Strong analytical and numerical skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - High level of accuracy and attention to detail. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
