Senior Finance Officer
Job Description
The Senior Finance Officer is responsible for supporting financial operations, transaction processing, reporting, reconciliation, and internal control activities at the corporate level. The role ensures that financial data from corporate and divisional operations is accurately recorded, verified, and reported in a timely manner to support financial control, compliance, and management decision-making. Key Responsibilities Financial Transaction Processing Support the processing and recording of financial transactions, including payments, receipts, journal entries, and adjustments. Ensure all financial transactions are properly documented and recorded in accordance with company procedures and accounting standards. Financial Data Compilation and Support Collect and compile financial data from corporate departments and business divisions to support consolidation and reporting processes. Ensure financial information is complete, consistent, and properly structured for analysis. Financial Reporting Support Support the preparation of financial reports, including management reports, budget reports, and operational summaries. Ensure reports are prepared accurately and submitted within required timelines. Budget Monitoring Support Assist in monitoring budget performance by comparing actual expenditures against approved budgets. Support variance analysis and provide financial data required for planning and control. Accounts Payable and Receivable Support Support accounts payable and receivable processes by ensuring invoices, payments, and collections are properly recorded and tracked. Monitor outstanding balances and support reporting activities. Reconciliation and Data Accuracy Perform bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and verification of financial records. Identify and support the resolution of financial discrepancies promptly. Documentation and Record Management Ensure financial documents are properly filed, organized, and maintained for audit and reference purposes. Maintain documentation in compliance with internal control and audit requirements. Compliance and Internal Control Support Ensure financial activities comply with company policies, procedures, and accounting standards. Support internal control processes and assist in identifying irregularities or control gaps. Coordination with Departments and Divisions Coordinate with divisional finance teams and corporate departments to ensure effective flow of financial information. Support timely collection, verification, and communication of financial data. Audit Support Support internal and external audits by preparing required financial documents and records. Assist auditors by providing accurate information and supporting documentation. Authority Level Process financial transactions and verify supporting documents. Request financial information from relevant departments. Recommend corrections and improvements in financial processes. The position does not have authority to approve financial transactions or expenditures. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Financial Transaction Accuracy: Ensuring correctness and completeness of recorded financial transactions. Reporting Timeliness: Preparing and submitting financial reports within required deadlines. Reconciliation Accuracy: Identifying and resolving financial discrepancies effectively. Budget Monitoring Support Effectiveness: Supporting financial control and budget performance tracking. Documentation and Record Management Quality: Maintaining organized, complete, and audit-ready financial records. Compliance with Financial Procedures: Ensuring adherence to company financial policies and procedures.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or related roles. Experience in corporate or multi-division environments is an added advantage. Required Skills and Competencies Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and transaction processing. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial data. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational and coordination skills. Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and finance teams. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling financial information.
