Rwanda Plant Nutrient Management Research & Lab Senior Specialist (Renewable)

This role focuses on leading the Plant Nutrient Management Research & Lab team within One Acre Fund's Rwanda operations. The Senior Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing research initiatives aimed at optimizing plant nutrient management practices for smallholder farmers. Key responsibilities include developing and testing innovative fertilizer and soil amendment strategies, analyzing data to assess the impact of nutrient management interventions, and providing technical guidance to field teams. The role involves close collaboration with agronomists, field staff, and external partners to ensure research findings are translated into practical, scalable solutions that enhance farm productivity and resilience. Additionally, the Specialist will mentor junior researchers, contribute to grant writing and fundraising efforts, and represent the organization in relevant agricultural research forums.

Bachelor’s degree in Soil Science, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred; Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in agricultural research, soil fertility management, or renewable nutrient systems; Proven track record in designing and conducting field trials and laboratory analyses; Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data management tools (e.g., R, Python, Excel) and statistical analysis; Experience working with smallholder farmers or in rural agricultural settings; Excellent project management and team leadership abilities; Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda; Willingness to travel frequently within Rwanda.
