Country Director, Burundi (National Contract)

The Country Director will serve as the primary representative of the Lutheran World Federation in Burundi, responsible for overseeing all operational, programmatic, and strategic activities within the country. This role involves leading a team of national and international staff, ensuring alignment with LWF's global mission and values, and fostering partnerships with local communities, government agencies, and international donors. The Country Director will be accountable for the successful implementation of programs, financial management, and compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements. Additionally, the role includes representing LWF in high-level meetings, advocating for humanitarian and development priorities, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all staff and beneficiaries. The position requires strong leadership, cross-cultural communication skills, and a deep commitment to humanitarian principles.

Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., International Development, Humanitarian Studies, Business Administration, or related discipline); minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in humanitarian, development, or nonprofit sectors; demonstrated experience in program management, financial oversight, and donor reporting; fluency in French and Kirundi (English is a strong asset); strong interpersonal and negotiation skills; ability to work in a multicultural and dynamic environment; experience in conflict-sensitive programming and community engagement is highly desirable.
