Camunda Software Engineer

Job Description

eNGINE is seeking a Software Engineer with expertise in Camunda, BPM, or workflow automation to join their growing technology team. The successful candidate will help build and implement a newly established Camunda platform that supports complex, end-to-end business processes. This role is ideal for a software engineer with strong Java or .NET fundamentals who wishes to deepen their expertise in process orchestration and workflow automation. The engineer will collaborate with the Camunda Architect and integration engineers to design robust contracts, resiliency patterns, and error-handling mechanisms. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining BPMN process definitions and DMN decision tables within Camunda, building external task workers and service-task integrations with enterprise and downstream systems, and supporting the development and orchestration of business-critical automation workflows. The role also involves integrating workflows using REST APIs, SQL, messaging, and queue-based technologies, writing unit and integration tests for workflow components, troubleshooting process-execution issues, and documenting process flows, technical decisions, and platform configurations. The position offers a dynamic work environment with scheduled downtime and continuous training opportunities, fostering career fulfillment through challenging engagements.

Requirements

3–5 years of professional software engineering experience; Strong development fundamentals in Java or .NET; Experience working with SQL, REST APIs, and message-based or queue-based integrations; Understanding of enterprise application integrations and distributed systems; Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and work within a newly established platform; Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience; Hands-on experience with Camunda or another BPM/workflow platform such as Pega, Appian, or IBM Business Automation Workflow; Experience developing BPMN workflows or DMN decision tables; Camunda certification or related coursework; Healthcare, revenue-cycle management, or specialty-pharmacy experience; No C2C (Corporate-to-Corporate) candidates can be considered for this opportunity.
