Job Description
The General Nurse at St. Lukes Orthopaedics & Trauma Hospital is responsible for overseeing patient care for both outpatient and inpatient services, ensuring continuity of care in alignment with established protocols and the hospital’s patient care objectives. The role involves maintaining accurate healthcare reports and records, administering medications, monitoring patients for side effects, recording vital signs, and evaluating patient progress. The nurse will collaborate with the healthcare team to assess, plan, and implement patient care plans, including treatment plans and operating medical equipment. Additional responsibilities include treating medical emergencies, conducting community health activities, performing minor theatre procedures as permitted by license and Nursing Council guidelines, billing patients for services rendered, and ensuring medical equipment is in good working condition. The position may also involve planning and conducting community health activities and handling post-operative patient recovery.
Requirements
Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (KRCHN) or Kenya Registered Nurse (KRN); Basic Life Support /Advanced Cardiac Life Support and any other specialty certification will be an added advantage; Minimum of five (5) years’ continuous nursing experience in a busy Level 5 hospital; Valid practicing license; Excellent customer care, communication, and public relations skills; Professional and friendly attitude; Ability to clerk – assess, investigate, diagnose, and provide appropriate care; Ability to connect with patients; Strong competencies in technical and behavioral areas including professionalism, objectivity, confidentiality, customer care, communication, and emotional intelligence.
