Senior Project Accountant Job

Oversee the financial management, reporting, compliance, and administration of grant-funded projects. The role involves managing grant accounting, sub-grantee financial oversight, and ensuring accurate financial reporting for donors and stakeholders. The Senior Project Accountant will work closely with program teams, finance leadership, donors, and implementing partners to ensure funds are used appropriately, financial reports are accurate and timely, and all compliance requirements are met. Responsibilities include managing financial planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting for grant-funded projects; reviewing grant budgets and funding agreements; monitoring expenditure against approved budgets; preparing financial reports for donors and management; supporting budget development and revisions; maintaining audit-ready grant finance files; and providing guidance and training to sub-grantee finance personnel. Occasional travel may be required for meetings, reviews, or financial reporting support to sub-grantees.

Strong expertise in grant accounting and sub-grantee management; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict reporting deadlines; experience in financial planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting for grant-funded projects; proficiency in reviewing grant budgets, funding agreements, cost allocations, and financial terms; ability to monitor expenditure against approved budgets, identify variances, risks, and funding gaps, and recommend corrective actions; experience in preparing accurate and timely financial reports for donors, management, and stakeholders; familiarity with maintaining audit-ready grant finance files and documentation; experience in reviewing sub-grantee budgets, financial reports, cash requests, supporting documentation, and budget amendments; ability to conduct financial monitoring, reviews, and spot checks; experience in identifying financial management weaknesses, compliance risks, or ineligible costs and developing corrective-action plans; proficiency in delivering guidance, training, and capacity-building support to sub-grantee finance personnel.
