Job Description
The Cost and Budget Accountant is responsible for preparing and monitoring budgets, analyzing costs, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting financial planning and reporting. The role ensures compliance with accounting standards, assists in cost control initiatives, and provides financial insights to support effective decision-making and organizational performance. Key responsibilities include preparing, monitoring, and analyzing departmental and organizational budgets; developing cost estimates and performing cost analysis to support financial planning and operational efficiency; monitoring budget utilization and identifying variances between actual and budgeted expenditures; preparing budget variance reports and providing recommendations for cost optimization; maintaining accurate cost accounting records and ensuring proper allocation of costs; assisting in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports; supporting the preparation of management reports and financial forecasts; ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and company financial policies; maintaining accurate accounting records using accounting software applications; supporting budget preparation for new projects, production activities, and operational plans; participating in internal and external audits by providing required financial records and supporting documentation; identifying opportunities for cost reduction and improved financial efficiency; ensuring proper documentation and maintenance of financial records; and performing other accounting and finance-related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements
Master's Degree in Accounting and Finance, Accounting, or Finance from a recognized university/college with no prior work experience required; OR Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance, Accounting, or Finance from a recognized university/college with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience. Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience for Bachelor's Degree holders; Experience in a manufacturing company is preferred; Knowledge of budgeting, cost accounting, and financial reporting; Training in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS); Proficiency in accounting software applications; Strong analytical and financial analysis skills; Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail; Good understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and cost control principles; Strong organizational and time management skills; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to prepare accurate financial reports and maintain proper documentation; Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team; High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
