Programme Associate (School Feeding)

The Programme Associate (School Feeding) will serve as a focal point for School Meals Programme activities in Puntland State, Somalia. Key responsibilities include liaising with partners (NGOs, UN agencies, and government entities) to facilitate coordination platforms and ensure regular information sharing. The role involves active participation in designing, overseeing, and monitoring school meals activities, strengthening systems and structures in line with WFP policies. Coordination with the CBT/IDM team and Ministry of Education is required to process entitlements for schools and support staff. Monthly distribution plans must be prepared and verified, with a focus on food or non-food item movements and distributions. Collaboration with the food systems team is essential for implementing school gardening activities in target schools. The position also includes supporting efforts to address findings from monitoring visits, reviews, and evaluations, as well as participating in school assessments and missions. Additional duties involve providing technical support to schools and government staff through training on food handling, management, and SBCC (Social and Behavior Change Communication). Progressive, periodic, and ad-hoc reports on programme implementation must be prepared, and participation in Education Cluster coordination meetings is expected. The role requires integrating protection, gender, and cross-cutting perspectives to ensure equal participation of girls and boys. Compliance with accountability standards and adherence to WFP’s leadership framework are mandatory.

Education: Completion of secondary school education OR University degree (Diploma/Bachelor) in Education, Social Sciences, Nutrition, Public Health, Administration, Development Studies, Agriculture, or other related fields is desirable; At least six (6) years of experience with a Secondary School Certificate OR University Degree (Diploma/Bachelor’s) with a minimum of two (2) or more years of relevant experience in emergency assistance and humanitarian programmes (relief, nutrition, SafetyNet, M&E, livelihood, or related fields); Fluency (level C) in English and Somali language; Coordination skills (organizing meetings, consultations at community/administrative/professional levels); Planning skills (resources planning and management); Reporting skills (good report writing in English); Good communication skills (oral and written); Understanding of the education system and context in Somalia; Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PPT); This position is open to qualified Somali national candidates only; Female candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
