Health Counselor (MHPSS)

This position is assigned for MHPSS services in Northern Shan State, reporting directly to a Medical Doctor. The role involves implementing MHPSS activities in IDP camps and targeted villages, including building capacity of MHPSS Volunteers/Community Health Workers from IRC and partner organizations. Responsibilities include organizing and delivering MHPSS services, providing individual and group counseling, facilitating awareness sessions, coordinating with camp management and village leaders, preparing monthly work plans, and submitting regular reports. The role also involves training delivery, monitoring and evaluation, and participation in MHPSS working group meetings at the township level. Additional duties include assisting in donor and HQ reporting, and coordinating with health stakeholders and operation/financial staff.

Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a B.N.Sc; OR Diploma in nursing; Minimum 2-3 years of experience in patient counseling; Demonstrated experience in MHPSS (skills and competencies); Experience in humanitarian settings; Ability to travel and work long continuous days in remote IDP camps/villages; Demonstrated experience in building capacity, designing, and delivering training; Good assessment, analytical, planning, and reporting skills; Proficiency in MS Office; Good communication skills in English (both oral and written) and knowledge of local languages preferred; Understanding of medical ethics, patient education, and humanitarian principles.
