Country Director – Nigeria

The Country Director will play a critical role in consolidating Terre des hommes' (Tdh) existing portfolio in Nigeria, strengthening strategic positioning, expanding partnerships, and securing new funding opportunities. The role involves leading the Foundation's operations in Nigeria, representing Tdh legally and strategically, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality programs while maintaining strong compliance and operational excellence. The Country Director will supervise all Tdh projects in Nigeria, develop and implement the Strategic Plan and Annual Operational Plans, manage budgetary, HR, and logistics operations, and ensure internal and external communications align with Tdh's mission. Additionally, the role requires overseeing staff management, security policies, risk management, and contingency plans, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding children and promoting a culture of accountability and excellence. The position involves regular travel to field locations, including Benue State and Borno State, and requires close collaboration with government authorities, local communities, and civil society partners. The Country Director will also lead by example in promoting Tdh's Global Code of Conduct, Risk Management Policies, and safeguarding principles, ensuring all teams comply with organizational policies.

Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent training/experience; at least 5 years of senior management experience in an NGO in a similar context; successful track record of developing strategies in humanitarian and/or development contexts; proven experience securing high levels of funding from institutional donors (e.g., USAID/BHA, DFID, AFD, CDCS, ECHO, DEVCO/INTPA, UN); extensive project management experience including budgeting, grants management, planning, staff development, and training; experience in emergency and/or development contexts; successful track record in drafting project proposals; management experience including leading expatriate teams; knowledge of child protection; ability to work under pressure with attention to detail; commitment to Tdh's Global Code of Conduct and Risk Management Policies; proficiency in English and local languages; French language skills are an asset; mastery of standard IT tools.
