The Information Systems Officer (P3) will serve as a key technical specialist within the FAO Ethiopia Country Office, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining information systems that support the organization's mandate to achieve food security and sustainable agriculture. The incumbent will lead the development and deployment of digital solutions, including data management platforms, GIS applications, and reporting tools, to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency. They will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate technology into FAO programs, ensuring alignment with UN standards and best practices. The role involves providing technical guidance to staff, training users on new systems, and troubleshooting complex issues to minimize downtime. Additionally, the officer will monitor system performance, assess emerging technologies, and recommend upgrades to improve functionality and security. This position plays a critical role in strengthening FAO's data-driven approach to addressing hunger and malnutrition in Ethiopia.

Advanced university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in information systems management, database administration, or IT project management; Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL, Oracle, MySQL) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software; Experience with data security protocols, IT governance frameworks, and disaster recovery planning; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure; Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal); Knowledge of Amharic or other local languages is an asset; Familiarity with UN or international organization IT policies and standards is desirable.
