Procurement Officer

Serve as a senior procurement and contracting expert responsible for complex contracts within the UN Department of Operational Support. Provide technical advice on procurement activities during all phases of the procurement cycle, including planning, sourcing, contract management, and closure. Develop and prepare complex contracts for the procurement of commodities and services, ensuring compliance with UN procurement policies and procedures. Issue international tender invitations, evaluate responses, and lead negotiations with concerned parties to secure favorable terms. Lead and supervise a team of procurement personnel, ensuring efficient and transparent procurement operations. Contribute to the development of category management strategies to optimize procurement outcomes and align with organizational objectives. Conduct consultancy missions to the field as required to support procurement activities in various locations.

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field; A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree; Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in procurement or contract management, with at least five years in a senior or supervisory role; Professional certification in procurement (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is highly desirable; Demonstrated experience in managing complex, high-value procurement activities in an international or multilateral organization; Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills; Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems; Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset.
