Account’s Assistant Officer Job

Job Description

This role involves preparing and filing statutory returns including PAYE, VAT, NHIF, NSSF, and corporate taxes in accordance with set deadlines. The Accounts Assistant / Officer will accurately post daily sales invoices into the system and update customer payments. Responsibilities include reconciling all customer accounts in collaboration with the Customer Service team, reviewing supporting documents for supplier payments, processing payments, and reconciling supplier accounts. The position also involves assisting in performing monthly bank reconciliations, resolving discrepancies, and supporting internal and external audit processes by preparing relevant schedules. Additionally, the role supports payroll preparation, including sales commissions, directors’ and staff allowances, and maintains and updates fixed asset records. The Accounts Assistant / Officer will assist in debt collection processes, ensure proper filing and safeguarding of accounting records, and support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, including variance analysis. The role also includes generating ad hoc financial and management reports as requested by management and assisting in the implementation and monitoring of internal financial controls and standard operating procedures. Other duties may include undertaking any related tasks assigned by the line manager.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting or a related field from a recognized institution; Professional Accountancy qualification CPA Part 2; Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in accounting; Experience in project accounting and/or real estate industry will be an added advantage; Strong knowledge of accounting principles and computerized accounting systems; Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software such as Sage; High level of integrity, honesty, and ethical conduct; Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; Strong time management and organizational abilities; Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy; Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
