Job Description
The Investigation Manager will lead and oversee complex investigations within UNICEF’s Office of Internal Audit & Investigation (OIAI), focusing on fraud, misconduct, and sexual exploitation/abuse cases. Key responsibilities include conducting preliminary assessments, planning and directing investigations, managing the Sexual Misconduct Portfolio, preparing detailed investigation reports for submission to senior leadership, and ensuring compliance with UNICEF policies and OIAI procedures. The role involves supervising investigators, providing technical oversight, mentoring staff, and coordinating with internal stakeholders such as the Ethics Office, Legal Office, and Child Safeguarding teams. Additionally, the manager will develop training materials, conduct awareness-raising sessions for UNICEF staff, and maintain accurate case databases. The position requires a victim-centered and trauma-informed approach, strict adherence to confidentiality, and adherence to due process requirements.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BSc/HND) or Master’s degree (MBA/MSc/MA) in a relevant field such as Law, Criminal Justice, Forensic Accounting, or related disciplines; minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience in investigations, preferably within international organizations, law enforcement, or similar entities; demonstrated experience in managing complex investigations, including sexual misconduct cases; strong knowledge of investigative methodologies, legal frameworks, and UNICEF policies; excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills; ability to work under pressure and manage sensitive cases with discretion; proficiency in English (additional UN languages are an asset); familiarity with database management and investigative tools.
