Project Management Support - Senior Officer
Job Description
The Project Management Support Senior Officer supports the effective implementation, coordination, and monitoring of project activities to ensure successful delivery of results within scope, time, cost, and quality parameters. The role provides analytical and operational support in project planning, execution, and reporting; contributes to risk and performance management; and ensures timely communication with partners and stakeholders. The Senior Officer helps drive efficient project delivery and achievement of results in line with organizational and donor/client expectations. Key responsibilities include: (1) Contributing to the development, execution, and updating of detailed implementation plans to ensure timely, budget-compliant, and quality project outputs; (2) Providing logistical and operational support for missions, workshops, and dialogues, including preparation of materials and reports; (3) Integrating sustainability, social inclusion, and gender equality considerations into all project stages; (4) Conducting or participating in field missions to monitor implementation and support local partners; (5) Coordinating the timely preparation and submission of narrative and financial reports, ensuring compliance with UNOPS and donor/partner standards; (6) Tracking project progress against scope, schedule, cost, and quality indicators, providing early warnings on deviations and proposing corrective actions; (7) Building and maintaining productive relationships with national and local authorities, donors, partners, grantees, and other key stakeholders; (8) Supporting the organization, facilitation, and delivery of training and learning sessions on project management; and (9) Participating in knowledge-sharing initiatives and Communities of Practice (CoPs), contributing insights and lessons learned.
Requirements
Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree) in project management, business administration, international relations, law, social sciences, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Experience: A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project management, programme coordination, or a related field is required. Experience in the field of human trafficking, migrant smuggling, or related areas is highly desirable. Experience with the United Nations system or similar international organizations is an asset. Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation; strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a multicultural environment and in a team; proficiency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of French or other UN languages is desirable. Computer Skills: Proficiency in standard office software (Microsoft Office Suite) and project management tools is required. Other: Ability to travel internationally (up to 25% of the time) is required.
