Sharia and Products Manager
Job Description
The Sharia and Products Manager will assist the Head of Sharia & Products in a range of critical responsibilities, including reviewing and preparing financing contract packages, forms, and other required documents. The role involves ensuring profit is fairly distributed to depositors according to the profit distribution model (PDM), preparing product guides, and conducting research on Sharia aspects for products, fatwas, or related issues before submission to the Sharia Supervisory Board. The manager will offer guidance to staff and clients on Islamic banking instruments, proactively identify and resolve product issues, and analyze market Islamic products to leverage opportunities for the bank. Additionally, the role includes training bank staff on Islamic banking products, ensuring compliance with Sharia principles, and supporting departments like marketing and financing management to align communications and operations with Sharia requirements. The manager will also assist in developing new products, preparing training materials, and administering Charity and Zakat Fund activities. Regular product performance assessments and quarterly reports are required, along with representing the bank at internal and external forums.
Requirements
Degree in Islamic Banking and Finance or Degree in Banking/Finance/Commerce with additional certification or Diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance; Professional Qualification in Islamic banking, Shariah (Jurisprudence) / Islamic Studies is an added advantage; Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills; Commercial thinking and Sharia-minded; Creative approach with ability to anticipate challenges and provide innovative Sharia-compliant solutions; Ability to train and coach Islamic banking & finance topics; Ability to write papers and prepare reports; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Strong persuasion and presentation skills; Products knowledge and innovation mindset in Islamic banking; Understanding of Islamic banking in the Tanzanian context.
