Project Procurement Officer
Job Description
The Project Procurement Officer will be responsible for managing the procurement processes for a specific research project under the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR). This includes sourcing, negotiating, and procuring goods, services, and equipment required for the project in accordance with national procurement regulations and donor requirements. The officer will ensure timely delivery of procured items, maintain accurate procurement records, and coordinate with project teams to align procurement activities with project timelines. Additionally, the role involves preparing procurement plans, conducting market surveys, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies and ethical standards. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure to meet project deadlines.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in procurement, preferably in a research or health sector environment; Professional certification in procurement (e.g., CIPS, CPSP) is an added advantage; Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite; Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills; Knowledge of Tanzanian procurement laws and donor procurement guidelines; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Fluency in English and Swahili (written and verbal).
