Nexus Ethiopia – WASH Officer Job Vacancy 2026

Plan, coordinate, implement, and supervise WASH activities in Kurmuk Woreda, focusing on the rehabilitation of shallow water schemes and supervision of technical works. Coordinate the distribution of WASH non-food items (NFIs) and lead hygiene promotion campaigns to improve community health and sanitation. Establish and strengthen WASH Committees (WASHCOs) while training community hygiene promoters to ensure sustainable WASH practices. Ensure compliance with donor requirements, Nexus Ethiopia policies, and government standards throughout all interventions. Collect and report activity data, prepare weekly and monthly reports, and support Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities to track project progress. Represent Nexus Ethiopia in woreda-level coordination meetings, maintain stakeholder engagement, and promote safeguarding, accountability, PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), and Do-No-Harm principles across all activities.

Bachelor’s degree in Water Supply & Sanitation Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Environmental Health, or Environmental Science (Master’s degree an asset); Minimum 4 years of professional experience in WASH programming (NGO/humanitarian preferred); At least 2 years in rural water supply rehabilitation, hand pump/shallow well maintenance, WASH NFI distribution, or hygiene promotion; Experience with BoQs (Bills of Quantities), technical specifications, site supervision, and WASH activity reporting; Strong knowledge of rural water supply systems, hygiene promotion, and community-based WASH management; Excellent communication skills in English and Amharic; Knowledge of local languages in Benishangul-Gumuz is an advantage; Ability to work under pressure, travel frequently, and deliver results within tight timelines.
