Environmental Engineer
Job Description
The Wash Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects in rural and urban communities. Key responsibilities include assessing community needs, developing project proposals, overseeing construction of water supply systems, latrines, and hygiene facilities, and ensuring compliance with national and international WASH standards. The role involves collaborating with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to promote sustainable WASH practices. Additionally, the engineer will conduct training sessions for community members on proper hygiene and maintenance of WASH infrastructure to ensure long-term impact.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field; minimum of 3 years of experience in WASH project implementation; strong technical skills in water supply systems, sanitation, and hygiene promotion; experience with community engagement and participatory approaches; proficiency in project management tools; ability to work in challenging environments; fluency in English and Kinyarwanda.
