Tax & Reporting Accountant Job

The Tax Reporting Accountant will ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, optimize the Group’s tax position, and manage tax risks across all entities. The role involves preparing and filing direct and indirect tax returns accurately and within statutory timelines, ensuring timely payment of tax obligations, and maintaining compliance with tax legislation in Kenya and Uganda. The accountant will coordinate tax audits and investigations, prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation, and manage engagements with tax authorities, consultants, and advisors. Additionally, the role requires preparing monthly tax provisions and tax computations, reconciling tax-related general ledger accounts, and preparing tax disclosures for annual financial statements. The position also supports the preparation of deferred tax calculations, identifies tax planning opportunities, and assesses tax risks to recommend mitigating actions. The accountant will prepare financial statements, reports for statutory bodies including KNBS, CBK, and UFAA, and support month and year-end close policies and procedures. Effective communication skills are essential to collaborate cross-functionally and present financial information to stakeholders.

A university graduate in a business-related field; Qualified Accountant (CPA(K), ACCA, or equivalent); Computer literate with a working knowledge of SAP, spreadsheets, and other MS Office applications; Three years of work experience in tax and financial reporting; Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations, including experience with tax planning and compliance; Sound knowledge of International Reporting Standards (IFRS); Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present financial information to stakeholders; Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail; Strong integrity and ethical standards in handling sensitive financial information and transactions.
