ICT Specialist - Software Development
Job Description
The ICT Specialist - Software Development will collaborate with a core development team based remotely, as well as colleagues in headquarters in New York and UN Resident Coordinator Offices. The role involves working within a team of front-end and back-end developers to create and maintain web applications primarily using Typescript, JavaScript, Express, Postgres, React JS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure tools. The incumbent is responsible for writing comprehensive automated tests, assisting with the maintenance and support of digital systems, and developing AI-enabled applications using tools like Azure AI Foundry, Copilot Studio, and Rovo. The position also includes designing and developing public and private APIs, enhancing platform performance, scalability, security, and user experience, and creating interactive data visualizations and dashboards for the UN INFO suite of tools. The role reports to the ICT Senior Manager - Technology Innovation and is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing new features, analyzing and resolving issues, and contributing across the entire technology stack while maintaining quality through automated tests.
Requirements
Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) preferably in information technology, information systems, information management, web development, database, engineering, or a related field with 5 years of relevant experience; OR a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in a related field with 7 years of relevant experience; OR a Secondary school diploma with 11 years of relevant experience. Minimum 3 years of experience in developing with object-oriented JavaScript and JavaScript-based libraries (Typescript, Node.JS, ReactJS); experience with Node.js, Python, or other web application frameworks; experience with SQL-based open-source databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL); experience with AI-enabled app development (Azure Foundry, MCP Servers, Copilot Studio, Rovo); experience in software testing (Jest, Mocha, Cypress) is desirable; experience in Git workflow, web API services, Linux environment, managing dependencies, deployment, and development workflow is desirable. Fluency in English is required; intermediate proficiency in Arabic, French, Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin), or Russian is desirable.
