Job Description
The Immunization EPI Specialist P3 will provide technical leadership and support for the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) in South Sudan. Key responsibilities include coordinating with national health authorities to strengthen immunization systems, ensuring vaccine supply chain management, supporting the introduction of new vaccines, and conducting surveillance for vaccine-preventable diseases. The role involves collaborating with partners such as WHO, GAVI, and local NGOs to improve immunization coverage, particularly in hard-to-reach areas. The specialist will also be responsible for capacity building of health workers, data management, and reporting on immunization indicators to stakeholders. This position requires extensive experience in public health, particularly in immunization programs, and the ability to work in challenging environments with limited resources.
Requirements
Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Public Health, Medicine, Nursing, Epidemiology, or a related field; Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in immunization, public health, or a related area; Experience in vaccine-preventable disease surveillance and outbreak response; Strong knowledge of EPI strategies and global immunization goals; Experience in working with national health systems and international organizations; Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills; Fluency in English (written and verbal); Knowledge of local languages is an asset.
