Senior Assistant Accountant
Job Description
The Senior Assistant Accountant will provide professional accounting and financial management support to the District Local Government. Primary responsibilities include maintaining accurate financial records, preparing monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with government accounting standards and regulations, and assisting in budget preparation and monitoring. The role involves coordinating with department heads to track expenditures, verifying financial transactions, and reconciling accounts. The position requires adherence to the Uganda Public Service regulations and the Local Government Job Specifications and Description 2011. The Senior Assistant Accountant will report directly to the District Accountant and work closely with the District Service Commission and Ministry of Public Service to ensure transparency and accountability in financial reporting.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution; Professional qualification such as CPA (U) or ACCA is an added advantage; Minimum of three (3) years of relevant accounting experience in the public sector or a recognized organization; Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Pastel, or equivalent; Strong knowledge of government financial regulations and accounting standards; Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills; Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines; Must be a Ugandan citizen; Familiarity with the Uganda Public Service regulations and Local Government Job Specifications and Description 2011.
