Accounting & Finance Associate, G-6

The Accounting & Finance Associate (G-6) plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective use of financial resources within UNICEF. The position involves preparing and assisting with financial reports, data compilation, and queries to ensure compliance and accuracy. As the local finance focal point, the role includes verifying invoices, calculations, and submissions to the Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC). The associate is responsible for monitoring and reconciling expenditures, balances, and payments for day-to-day transactions, as well as maintaining accurate records. Additional responsibilities include managing data from diverse sources, preparing recurring and special reports for audits and budgets, supporting year-end account closure, and providing guidance to staff and consultants on financial matters such as allowances and claims. The role also involves liaising with local banks to monitor exchange rates, prepare reconciliations, and contribute to budget analysis and cost estimation for projects.

Completion of Secondary Education is required; Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience in finance and accounting is required; Ability to create and manage project plans, objectives, and deliverables while tracking resources (time, budget, team efforts) and identifying potential risks; Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and provide actionable insights for decision-making; Proficiency in using digital tools, AI-powered platforms, and business systems to analyze, manage, and improve data quality and reporting; Fluency in English is required; Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or local language of the duty station is considered an asset; Professional and/or university courses related to finance, accounting are highly desirable; Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is an advantage.
