Job Description
The Open University of Kenya aims to address the pressing issue of limited capacity in traditional universities by employing innovative teaching and learning methodologies, including online and distance education. By leveraging technology and flexible learning modes, the university seeks to accommodate a larger number of qualified students, enabling them to access higher education opportunities. The university is seeking qualified and experienced individuals to serve as part-time lecturers in the field of Secure Software Development. The role involves delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences to students through online and distance education methodologies. Part-time lecturers are expected to support student learning, engage in curriculum development, and contribute to the academic community of the university.
Requirements
An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in Secure Software Development, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field from an accredited university; OR a Master’s degree in the relevant field from an accredited university with at least three (3) years of teaching experience at university level and registered in good standing for PhD in the relevant field. Candidates must be computer literate with the ability to handle digital content and support students online. Prior teaching experience in software development, cybersecurity, or related ICT fields is highly desirable. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ and familiarity with secure coding frameworks is preferred. Membership in relevant professional bodies and evidence of continuous professional development will be an added advantage.
