Managerial Leader I, Corporate Affairs

The Kipushi Project S.A., a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is seeking a Managerial Leader I for Corporate Affairs to advise management on legal aspects, risks, and corporate governance matters. The role involves managing the legal department, driving the Corporate Affairs strategy, and ensuring compliance with DRC legislation and KICO strategic imperatives. Key responsibilities include developing and embedding policies, standards, and processes; coordinating with stakeholders to provide comprehensive business solutions; implementing corporate governance, compliance, integrity, and ethics frameworks; and ensuring timely acquisition and renewal of permits and licenses. The position requires proactive risk management, legal support to senior management, and educating business teams on regulatory requirements to avoid fines and ensure legal compliance. Additionally, the role involves monitoring DRC law changes, engaging with government departments to resolve disputes, and reporting material risks to management.

Qualified lawyer with a Bachelor of Law degree; 10+ years of relevant experience in civil and common law, managing a legal function; prior in-house experience required; experience in the mining environment highly advantageous; fluency in French and English essential; advanced skills in DRC legislation, KICO strategic imperatives, and sub-Saharan Africa (excluding South Africa) work experience; experience in permitting and regulatory environments; ability to articulate legislation for a wide audience; high emotional intelligence; knowledge of rationale and concepts behind advantageous legal strategies.
