The Safety and Security Advisor (Retainer) will provide strategic and operational guidance to ensure the safety and security of Action Aid Ethiopia (AAE) staff, assets, and operations. This role involves developing and implementing robust safety and security policies, conducting risk assessments, and providing training to staff on security protocols. The advisor will work closely with the Country Director and senior management to integrate security measures into all programs and operations. Key responsibilities include monitoring the security environment, advising on contingency planning, and ensuring compliance with national and international security standards. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies to safeguard personnel and operations in high-risk areas.

Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, International Relations, or a related field; Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety and security advisory roles; Experience working in humanitarian or development contexts in Ethiopia or similar environments; Strong knowledge of security risk assessment methodologies; Excellent communication and training skills; Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments; Fluency in English and Amharic (additional local languages are an asset).
