Nurse Supervisor, OR Recovery

Leads the nursing team in the Operating Room (OR) Recovery unit by formulating, implementing, and evaluating annual goals aligned with surgical services and nursing division strategic objectives. Provides effective supervision to nursing staff, utilizing learning opportunities for their professional development and ensuring staff coverage with the appropriate skill mix for safe and effective patient care. Develops and reviews policies, procedures, protocols, clinical pathways, and care guidelines in line with identified standards. Responsible for recruitment, selection, and training of the nursing team, as well as implementing retention strategies to reduce turnover. Undertakes performance reviews of staff in the perioperative unit and develops action plans for individual staff growth. Fosters a pleasant working environment through motivational leadership to enhance job satisfaction. Prepares monthly and annual reports, controls unit costs, stocks, and bad debts, and participates in budget processes. Collaborates with the Marketing department to design and implement strategies to increase business. Actively participates in Nursing Division activities, including the development of nursing policies, procedures, and quality indicators. Continuously initiates innovative and evidence-based strategies to improve patient care, leads in developing a culture of safe perioperative practice, and participates in multidisciplinary clinical rounds. Together with the lead physician, evaluates care and outcomes through Mortality and Morbidity discussions, clinical incidence trends, and clinical indicators. Establishes standards of care with unit staff and monitors delivery of care according to these standards. Fosters the development of nurses to their maximum potential by providing educational and training opportunities. Ensures a system is in place to monitor nurses' clinical knowledge, skills, and competencies. Employs effective management strategies to support staff in enhancing safe patient care, promotes nursing research, and acts as a resource person for staff in the perioperative unit. Develops and maintains effective internal and external networks to improve nursing practice. Is responsible for staff, patient, and family satisfaction with perioperative services, responds to client complaints in a timely manner, and ensures program-based client satisfaction surveys are conducted with appropriate follow-up actions. Informs the Chief of Diagnostic Operations (CDO) and relevant director of high-risk patients, incidences, and sentinel events.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BScN) with current licensure with the Nursing Council of Kenya; Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Proficient in basic computer skills; Minimum of 5 years clinical nursing experience in Operating Room nursing in an acute care hospital; Demonstrates expert knowledge and skills in Operating Theatre nursing; Demonstrates leadership and management skills; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to work with minimum supervision
