Job Description
The Programme Officer will play a crucial role in implementing the Digital Futures programme in Kenya, a partnership between Sightsavers, Mastercard Foundation, and Digital Futures. This initiative aims to improve access to dignified and fulfilling work for young people with disabilities, with a strong focus on young women. The role involves supporting the development and execution of annual work plans, budgets, and activity schedules; coordinating the implementation of digital, IT, and entrepreneurship training; and facilitating partner engagement. The Programme Officer will maintain regular communication with implementing partners to monitor progress, troubleshoot implementation challenges, and support capacity strengthening on disability inclusion, safeguarding, MEAL requirements, and employment pathways. Additionally, the role includes identifying and pitching the programme to potential employers, ensuring compliance and quality assurance, and promoting disability- and gender-inclusive practices across all programme activities. The position also involves collecting, verifying, and analyzing programme data in line with MEAL frameworks and donor requirements, conducting field visits, learner assessments, partner supervision, and follow-up on beneficiaries’ progress. The role may require a small amount of national travel.
Requirements
Experience in digital skills training programmes, entrepreneurship promotion, or labour market initiatives; experience with skills training/development, internships, and employer engagement; exceptional project implementation within NGO/INGOs, social impact, skills development, or youth empowerment in Kenya; strong knowledge and experience of disability inclusion, gender equality principles, and inclusive employment principles; ability to manage stakeholder and partner engagement; familiarity with safeguarding, child protection, and data protection standards; experience in financial monitoring and ensuring expenditure aligns with approved budgets and financial policies.
