Job Description
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking an individual contractor to support the Gender & Fiscal Policy (EQUANOMICS) initiative in Somalia. The assignment involves providing technical expertise to analyze and strengthen fiscal policies with a gender lens, ensuring that economic policies promote gender equality and women's empowerment. The consultant will work closely with UNDP's Somalia team and government counterparts to assess current fiscal policies, identify gaps, and propose gender-responsive budgeting and policy recommendations. Key deliverables include a comprehensive gender and fiscal policy analysis report, policy briefs, and capacity-building sessions for local stakeholders. The consultant will also contribute to UNDP's digital transformation agenda through the Quantum project, which aims to modernize UNDP's engagement platform. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and adherence to UNDP's procurement and project management standards.
Requirements
Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Economics, Gender Studies, Public Policy, or a related field; Minimum 5 years of professional experience in fiscal policy analysis, gender mainstreaming, or economic policy development; Proven experience in conducting gender-responsive budgeting and policy assessments; Strong analytical skills with proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods; Excellent writing and communication skills in English; Familiarity with Somalia's socio-economic context and gender equality challenges is highly desirable; Experience working with UNDP, UN agencies, or international development organizations is an asset; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools.
