Technical Director

Job Description

KCB Football Club is seeking an experienced and visionary Technical Director to provide strategic and technical leadership across all football operations. The Technical Director will be responsible for developing and overseeing the Club's football philosophy, recruitment strategy, multi-season squad planning, player development pathways, performance analytics, and technical benchmarking. The role will support the Chairman and Club Committee by providing objective, evidence-based recommendations that enhance sporting performance, protect the Club's investment, and ensure long-term sustainability. The role will work collaboratively with the Head Coach while maintaining an independent strategic oversight function. Key Responsibilities: Football Strategy & Technical Direction: - Develop and implement the Club's long-term football strategy and playing philosophy. - Establish multi-season technical and performance objectives. - Benchmark Club performance against leading domestic and regional football clubs. - Support the continuous improvement of football operations and structures. Squad Planning & Recruitment: - Develop and maintain a multi-season squad plan. - Lead player recruitment, succession planning, retention and exit strategies. - Establish position-specific player profiles and recruitment criteria. - Build and maintain scouting and talent identification networks across Kenya and the region. - Advise on transfers, contract renewals and squad composition. Performance Analytics & Technical Review: - Develop player and team performance evaluation frameworks. - Oversee match analysis, technical reporting and performance analytics. - Identify performance trends and recommend improvement interventions. - Conduct structured technical reviews during the season and provide recommendations to the Chairman and Club Committee. Coach & Technical Bench Support: - Collaborate with the Head Coach on squad planning and player development. - Ensure alignment between football strategy and first-team objectives. - Provide independent technical insights and performance analysis to support decision-making. - Contribute to coaching succession and technical capability planning. Youth Development & Talent Pathways: - Establish and oversee a structured youth development pathway. - Support progression of high-potential players into the senior team. - Develop succession plans for key positions within the squad. Governance & Stakeholder Management: - Ensure compliance with FKF, CAF, FIFA and league regulations. - Provide regular technical reports to the Chairman and Club Committee. - Build relationships with clubs, academies, scouts, agents and football stakeholders. - Promote high standards of professionalism, integrity and accountability.

Requirements

Education & Professional Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management, Sports Science, Physical Education, Business Administration or a related field. - CAF A License or equivalent internationally recognized football qualification. - CAF Pro License will be an added advantage. Experience: - Minimum of 10 years' experience within elite or professional football environments. - Minimum of 5 years in a senior football leadership role. - Proven experience in: - Squad planning - Recruitment and talent identification - Player development - Football operations - Performance analysis - Strong understanding of Kenyan and East African football markets. Key Competencies: - Strategic Football Leadership: Ability to develop and execute a long-term football vision aligned to Club objectives. - Recruitment & Talent Identification: Proven ability to identify, assess and recruit players who improve squad quality and performance - Squad Planning & Succession Management: Ability to build sustainable squads and reduce dependence on annual rebuilding - Performance Analytics: Ability to apply data, performance metrics and football intelligence to decision-making - Stakeholder Management: Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with coaches, management, players, agents and football stakeholders - Financial & Contract Acumen
