Senior Conservation Research Assistant
Job Description
This is a rare opportunity to live and work in Madagascar, one of the world’s most biodiverse and conservation-critical regions, leading long-term, field-based research in a remote setting. The Senior Research Assistant (SRA) will oversee the day-to-day operations of SEED Madagascar’s research camp and play a central role in the design, implementation, and reporting of field-based research. Responsibilities include managing data collection, ensuring research quality and integrity, contributing to data analysis and dissemination of findings to donors and the conservation community, and providing leadership and pastoral support to short-term volunteers. The role involves setting up transects, collecting ecological data, developing new research projects, and fostering relationships with other conservation organizations. Additionally, the SRA will assist in managing logistics, equipment, transport, and accommodation for staff and volunteers, while ensuring compliance with SEED’s health, safety, and ethical guidelines. The position requires close collaboration with both international and national research staff to promote team cohesion and effective communication.
