Mining Engineer

Sunbird Resources Limited is seeking a Mining Engineer to manage limestone mining operations at the Moroto Limestone Mine. The role involves preparing and implementing short-term, medium-term, and long-term mine plans to ensure sustainable and efficient mining activities. The Mining Engineer will design critical mine infrastructure such as haul roads, benches, pits, and dumps, while monitoring mining activities to ensure strict compliance with approved plans and designs. Responsibilities include analyzing geological and survey data to optimize mine development and production, monitoring daily operations to achieve production targets, and coordinating drilling, blasting, excavation, loading, and hauling activities. The position requires optimizing mining methods and operational processes to enhance productivity while ensuring adherence to Occupational Safety and Health regulations, mining laws, and company policies. Additionally, the role involves preparing comprehensive daily, weekly, monthly, and annual mining reports to track performance and compliance.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies (as referenced in the application details) - Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field. - Professional certification or membership in a recognized engineering body (e.g., Engineers Registration Board, Uganda). - Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mining operations, preferably in limestone or similar mining environments. - Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, MineSight, or similar). - Strong knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations and mining laws. - Experience in designing and optimizing mine infrastructure. - Analytical skills to interpret geological and survey data. - Leadership and team coordination abilities. - Excellent report writing and communication skills.
