TOR to document local and indigenous knowledge systems that support Anticipatory Action and Early Warning in the Acholi and Karamoja regions

The consultant is expected to document local and indigenous knowledge systems that support Anticipatory Action and Early Warning in the Acholi and Karamoja regions. This involves conducting field research, interviews, and consultations with local communities, traditional leaders, and relevant stakeholders to gather comprehensive data. The consultant will analyze the gathered information to identify key indicators and systems that can inform early warning mechanisms and anticipatory action plans. The final output will be a detailed report outlining the findings, recommendations, and strategies for integrating indigenous knowledge into existing early warning systems to enhance resilience and preparedness in the regions.

Bachelor's degree in anthropology, sociology, environmental science, or a related field; minimum of 5 years of experience in community-based research, documentation of indigenous knowledge, or early warning systems; strong analytical and report-writing skills; proficiency in local languages spoken in Acholi and Karamoja regions (e.g., Luo, Ngakarimojong); experience working with NGOs or international organizations in Uganda; familiarity with participatory research methodologies; ability to work under tight deadlines and in remote areas.
