Procurement Officer

The Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority is seeking a highly motivated and experienced procurement professional to lead its procurement and purchasing activities. The role involves overseeing the entire procurement process, from identifying procurement needs to negotiating contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with national and international procurement regulations, and managing supplier relationships. The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies to optimize cost efficiency and quality of goods and services procured. Additionally, the role includes supervising a team of procurement officers, conducting market research to identify potential suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery of procured items. The position requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of procurement best practices.

Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management; Professional certification in procurement (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) is an advantage; Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite; Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills; Knowledge of Ethiopian procurement laws and regulations; Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
