Senior Finance Coordinator

Job Description

The Senior Finance Coordinator is responsible for providing strategic financial management support, ensuring effective financial planning, compliance, operational efficiency, and strong financial controls. The role involves managing financial processes, supporting large-scale operational changes, strengthening staff capacity, ensuring donor compliance, and providing leadership in financial decision-making. Key responsibilities include overseeing financial planning and development, ensuring statutory accounting compliance, and generating innovative financial solutions aligned with organizational objectives. The role requires working across multiple field offices with varying portfolios to achieve significant changes. Strong leadership, influencing skills, and professional finance credibility are essential. Proficiency in MS Office and financial management software is required, along with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

Requirements

BA Degree in Finance and Accounting, Business Administration, or other relevant discipline from a recognized University. A minimum of 8 years of work experience, out of which 5 years’ experience directly related to financial management. Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale operational and procedural changes from proposal development to program operations. Experience in statutory accounting management. Experience in building capacity of staff in an INGO setting. Evidence of working across a range of field offices with different portfolios and capacities to achieve significant changes. Experience in strategic financial planning and development. Excellent leadership and influencing skills with professional finance credibility. Ability to work independently as a self-starter and generate innovative solutions. Ability to generate and critically analyze business cases and other financial plans in relation to SCI objectives. Good proficiency with MS Office and a range of software packages related to financial management. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including influencing, negotiation, and coaching abilities. Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours. Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is preferred. 5 years of experience within the NGO/charities sector. Experience working in an emergency context. Understanding of major donor compliance regulations (USAID, DFID, ECHO, OFDA, etc.).
