Policy Advisor - Climate Change

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is seeking a qualified consultant to conduct the mid-term review of the GEF7 Sustainable Land Management (SLM) project in South Africa. The consultant will assess the project's progress, evaluate its effectiveness, and provide recommendations for improvement. Key responsibilities include reviewing project documentation, conducting field visits, interviewing stakeholders, and preparing a comprehensive mid-term review report. The consultant will work closely with IUCN staff, government partners, and local communities to ensure alignment with project objectives and GEF requirements. Deliverables include a detailed review report, stakeholder feedback summaries, and actionable recommendations for project enhancement.

Advanced degree in environmental science, natural resource management, or a related field; minimum 10 years of experience in sustainable land management, project evaluation, or environmental consulting; proven experience in conducting mid-term reviews for GEF or similar projects; strong analytical and report-writing skills; familiarity with South African environmental policies and frameworks; proficiency in English; experience working with international organizations is an asset.
