Job Description
The Marine Spatial Data Analyst will support Blue Ventures' marine conservation and fisheries management programs by analyzing spatial data to inform decision-making. Primary responsibilities include processing and interpreting geospatial datasets, creating maps and visualizations, and developing spatial models to assess marine resource use patterns. The role involves collaborating with field teams to collect and validate spatial data, ensuring data accuracy and relevance for conservation planning. Key deliverables include producing high-quality spatial analyses for reports, presentations, and policy briefs, as well as providing technical support to colleagues and partners. The position requires working in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team environment focused on sustainable marine resource management.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in marine science, geography, environmental science, or a related field; minimum 3 years of experience in spatial data analysis using GIS software (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS); proficiency in R or Python for spatial data processing; experience with remote sensing data and marine conservation issues; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
