Greenhouse Scientist

Manage daily operations of BSL-2 greenhouses and screenhouses facilities. Oversee containment, plant maintenance, and biosafety compliance in a controlled agricultural research environment. Coordinate all aspects of planting, maintenance, phenotyping, and trait efficacy evaluation of biotech materials. Implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for greenhouse operations to ensure compliance with biosafety regulations and research protocols. Conduct regular assessments of plant health, growth parameters, and experimental outcomes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including researchers, agronomists, and biotechnologists to optimize greenhouse productivity and experimental success. Ensure proper documentation of all activities, data collection, and reporting in accordance with research standards.

Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences, Plant Biotechnology, Horticulture, or related field; Master's degree preferred; Minimum 3 years of experience in greenhouse management, plant research, or agricultural biotechnology; Demonstrated knowledge of biosafety protocols and containment procedures; Experience with plant phenotyping, trait evaluation, and data analysis; Proficiency in greenhouse operation software and data management systems; Strong understanding of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and research methodologies; Excellent organizational and teamwork skills; Ability to work in controlled environments with attention to detail; Knowledge of Rwandan agricultural regulations and research standards is an advantage.
