Job Description
Join Geita Gold Mining Limited as the Manager, Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) within the Geita Division, a pivotal role contributing to the operational success of open pit mining activities. Reporting directly to the Director of Asset Management and Engineering, you will lead and optimize maintenance strategies to enhance the availability, reliability, and safety of mobile mining equipment. Your leadership will ensure that major services, rebuilds, and maintenance programs are executed efficiently and cost-effectively, supporting mine plan objectives. This role encompasses responsibility for all major routine maintenance and rebuild activities for surface and underground mobile equipment, including oversight of workshops, welding bays, and tyre bays. You will guarantee operational excellence and adherence to OEM standards while directly impacting equipment lifecycle management, workplace safety, and alignment of maintenance schedules with mining priorities. Champion a safety-first culture by proactively identifying, managing, and mitigating workplace hazards, ensuring all team members are competent and trained to perform tasks safely. Provide strategic technical advice and leadership to maintenance leaders and trades personnel, fostering a high-performance maintenance team skilled in heavy mining equipment upkeep. Develop, review, and implement detailed scopes of work for major maintenance and rebuild projects, ensuring strict adherence to OEM standards and industry best practices. Lead warranty management processes, investigating premature equipment/component failures and pursuing claims to protect company assets and reduce costs.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field; minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy mobile equipment maintenance within the mining industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role; strong knowledge of OEM standards and best industry practices for equipment maintenance and rebuilds; proven ability to develop and implement maintenance strategies; experience in workshop management, including welding and tyre bays; certifications in occupational health and safety (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001) are advantageous; excellent leadership and communication skills to foster a high-performance maintenance team.
