Internal Auditor

The Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK), a leading organization committed to the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities, is seeking to recruit a highly analytical finance professional. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Internal Auditor will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the organization’s assets, reputation, and operational efficiency. The role involves developing, executing, and monitoring comprehensive, risk-based annual audit plans; conducting systematic reviews of financial records, statements, and operational processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with donor agreements and local laws; and evaluating the adequacy of existing internal controls while identifying inefficiencies and recommending corrective actions. The auditor will also perform organizational risk assessments, assist in drafting practical risk mitigation strategies, prepare detailed audit reports for the Board of Directors, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement recommended actions. Additionally, the role includes capacity building by supporting and training staff on internal control procedures, fraud awareness, and financial ethics to foster a strong culture of compliance.

BA/BSc/HND in Finance, Accounting, or related field; Professional Certificate in Accounting/Auditing; 5-7 years of relevant experience; Strong analytical and risk mitigation skills; Knowledge of internal control frameworks and compliance standards; Experience with financial record reviews and audit planning; Proficiency in financial ethics and fraud awareness; Ability to prepare detailed audit reports; Experience in training and capacity building.
