Senior Project Associate (Community Outreach)

The Senior Project Associate will support the implementation of the Protection Non-emergencies Community Outreach project activities under the overall supervision of the Programme Officer (Protection) and direct supervision of the National Officer (Protection). Key responsibilities include organizing and facilitating community outreach campaigns such as community dialogues, roadshows, focus-group discussions, and info sessions focused on safe migration, trafficking risks, and available services. The role involves participating in meetings and workshops with key leaders, migrant groups (including youth and women), and other stakeholders to enhance safe migration messaging. The Associate will assist in planning, coordinating, implementation, and monitoring of project activities, compiling and analyzing data, drafting status reports, and identifying corrective measures for delivery shortfalls. Additional duties include drafting correspondence, preparing reports and briefing notes, organizing training sessions, responding to complex information requests, maintaining liaison with local authorities and partners, and supporting the collection and packaging of human-interest stories for visibility. The role also requires drafting engaging social media content in coordination with the Media and Communication Unit and contributing creative ideas for visibility and outreach. The position demands flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.

School diploma with six years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in political or social sciences, Communication studies, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields with four years of relevant professional experience; Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations; Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage; Experience in community outreach, public affairs, development, and/or education; Experience managing and mentoring teams and promoting achievement of project objectives; Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural, and diplomatic skills; Ability to design and deliver training effectively; Excellent report writing and analytical skills; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Solid organizational skills with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure; Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Fluency in English and Amharic (oral and written) is required; Knowledge of Ethiopian national languages such as Afan Oromo, Somali, and Tigrinya is desirable; Proficiency in required languages will be evaluated during the selection process.
