Cost Accountant

Job Description

The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and controlling production and operational costs to support effective financial decision-making. The role involves preparing cost reports, maintaining inventory cost records, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, analyzing variances, and ensuring the accuracy of cost accounting processes. The Cost Accountant works closely with finance, production, procurement, and warehouse teams to improve cost efficiency and profitability while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. Key Responsibilities - Prepare and maintain accurate cost accounting records for production and operational activities. - Analyze production costs, material costs, labor costs, and overhead expenses to identify cost-saving opportunities. - Monitor inventory costs and ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods. - Conduct cost variance analysis and investigate differences between actual and standard costs. - Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and cost projections. - Prepare periodic cost reports and provide recommendations to improve operational efficiency. - Support month-end and year-end financial closing activities related to cost accounting. - Collaborate with production, procurement, and warehouse departments to ensure accurate cost allocation and inventory management. - Review manufacturing processes and recommend improvements to enhance cost efficiency. - Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company financial policies. - Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation. - Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Experience - 2–5 years of experience in cost accounting, management accounting, manufacturing finance, or a similar role. - Experience in a manufacturing or production environment is highly desirable. - Knowledge of inventory costing methods and financial reporting practices is an advantage. Required Competencies - Strong knowledge of cost analysis and cost control techniques. - Knowledge of inventory accounting and inventory valuation methods. - Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software or ERP systems. - Good communication and report-writing skills. - Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines. - High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
