Country Representative for South Sudan, based in Juba

Job Description

Under the management of IMPACT’s Regional Coordinator in Geneva, the Country Representative is responsible for representing IMPACT and managing and developing IMPACT’s programmes in South Sudan. The role involves leading the IMPACT team to achieve program excellence, ensuring high levels of impact and accountability, and maintaining compliance with IMPACT guidelines, policies, and standards. The Country Representative acts as the primary liaison between the South Sudan mission and IMPACT’s headquarters, communicating organizational risks, strategic updates, and operational challenges to senior management. Additionally, the role promotes IMPACT’s vision and core values across the mission while contributing to the implementation of global strategies. The Country Representative is hosted by Acted and reports directly to Acted’s Country Director for all administrative, security, logistics, and finance matters, ensuring adherence to Acted’s policies and regulations. Key responsibilities include leading proposal development, negotiating donor contracts, overseeing programme planning and implementation, managing budgets, and representing IMPACT in external engagements with donors, UN agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders. The role also involves guiding and developing the IMPACT team, ensuring performance standards, and maintaining strict data protection and accountability standards.

Requirements

Excellent academic qualifications, including a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (International Relations, Political Sciences, Social Research, Development Studies, or similar); at least 5 years of relevant working experience; previous experience in a senior management role in an INGO at field level; track record in successful management of international and national teams in humanitarian contexts; familiarity with the aid system and the research community; excellent communication and drafting skills for effective reporting, including proven experience in contributing to high-level presentations/briefings; experience in assessments, M&E, field research, and evaluations is an asset; ability to operate in a cross-cultural environment; fluency in English required; ability to work independently in a complex and challenging security environment.
