Internship Opportunity

The Agronomist Intern will provide day-to-day technical and field support to the Agronomic Advisor within the Nandi Carbon–Climate Resilience, Livelihoods & Nutrition Project. The role involves supporting agroforestry, climate-smart agriculture, tree planting, and farmer engagement activities across dispersed project sites. Key responsibilities include conducting field visits to nurseries and farmer plots to monitor tree planting, nursery management, soil and water conservation practices, and seasonal activities like seedling propagation and transplanting. The intern will also assist in farmer trainings, demonstrations, and community meetings, providing basic agronomic guidance under supervision. Additionally, the role includes supporting monitoring, reporting, and learning processes such as farmer registration, land verification, and data collection on tree planting survival rates, nursery outputs, and adoption of climate-smart practices. The position is designed to build early-career technical capacity while enhancing effective project oversight and delivery. The intern will act as a liaison between farmers and the technical team, escalating field challenges promptly and promoting inclusive participation of women, youth, and vulnerable households.

Enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, or a related field. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Experience in child-focused programs or community work is an advantage. Fluency in English and Swahili is required.
